A goal for these dance opportunities is to
save a very important part of our history in three ways:
- To support touch dancing for fun
and recreation.
- To support live music provided by local and regional
bands.
- To support area facilities conducive to ballroom/social dancing.
Throughout history, partner dancing has been accepted as a valued social
skill that enhances human relations. Responding to and supporting bands
that play danceable music is part of that experience. Both of these --
partner dancing and live music -- have an interesting history that should be
preserved for future generations. If we want practices and buildings to be
in our future, they must be preserved today. Let this goal become part of
your life as demonstrated by your financial support and involvement.
Two dance sites which we promote are historical buildings; Old Brick (1856) and The Ponderosa
Ballroom (1917). These sites have wood floors that enhance the dance experience and can support
attendance of 125 to 500 at a reasonable cost. If ballroom dancing is to
have a future, these sites must remain active in our communities. |
