The Ponderosa

This membership opportunity merges two interests; coming together on a scheduled basis for the purpose of enjoying and dancing to live Big Band music and supporting an area ballroom that for many years has provided a place for big bands to play.

Friends of Ballroom Dancing and the Ponderosa Ballroom is the vehicle through which its members can show an active commitment to live Big Band music and where it can best be heard – The Ponderosa Ballroom.

The Ponderosa Ballroom is located at 195 1st Street South in the heart of Walford, IA. It has a 4,000 square foot wood floor and seating for 400. A cash bar is available. Dances at The Ponderosa are normally scheduled on the third Sunday of the month from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. The admission charge for each dance is from $20 to $25 per couple depending on the musical entertainment and food. The members who attend each dance make up a majority of those in attendance. Guests and the general public are also encouraged to attend and join in the fun.
